WMX Eligibility Requirements

WMX Eligibility Requirements – 2026 Season

An AMA Pro Racing license is required in order to compete in WMX events. To be eligible for a WMX AMA Pro Racing license, a rider at a minimum must:

  1. WMX is a female class based on the rider’s original birth certificate (issued at Birth);
  2. Minimum age of 17 years is required, unless the rider competed in the WMX championship in 2025. Effective, Effective with the 2027 competition season, AMA Pro Motocross licensed riders will be required to be 18 years of age for all classes.
  3. Hold a valid and active AMA membership in good standing;
  4. Submit a completed neurocognitive baseline ImPACT test/assessment from ImPACT Applications, Inc. dated within two years of the date of the Competitor's AMAP Credential License application. Proof of completion must be submitted to AMAP.
  5. Provide proof of primary medical insurance covering all injuries sustained while competing in an AMAP sanctioned event. Such primary medical insurance must remain current and in force at all times while participating in an AMAP-sanctioned event. Failure to maintain such coverage in-force will result in the immediate suspension of the Competitor’s AMAP License.
  6. Execute and deliver to AMAP such authorizations, releases, applications, consents, waivers, resumes, and other documents as may be required by AMAP from time to time.
  7. Rider must demonstrate competition experience comparable to other competitors in the class. To do so, rider may:
    a. Race Resume: Submit a Race Resume to include all AMA-sanctioned race results from the past (18) months. A minimum of five race results is required.
    b. Reference Letter: At least one letter of reference, including contact information, from an AMA national or district race official, recognized industry representative, or certified USMCA instructor familiar with the applicant’s abilities and capable of attesting to the rider’s readiness for WMX competition.
    c. Additional supporting information may be requested as needed to evaluate eligibility. Applicants may submit updated results and materials for further consideration.

All WMX licenses are considered provisional. The license process will not be considered complete until the rider competes in her first three events without issue. WMX eligibility is issued at the sole discretion of AMA Pro Racing and may be revoked at any time.
